Richard Gorrie

Dr. Richard Gorrie is Associate Director, Educational Technology Research, Development & Integration, with Open Learning and Educational Support (OpenEd) at the University of Guelph. In this role, he helps formulate the educational technology strategies for Open Ed and oversees a wide-ranging team of analysts, developers, technicians, administrators and eLearning specialists, well-known for their excellent work in the areas of teaching and learning technology.

An edtech expert in his own right, Richard has developed innovative projects and conducted learning research at the university, national and international levels. He has delivered keynote addresses on Universal Instructional Design, eportfolios, learning outcomes assessment, and numerous aspects of integrating learning technology with sound teaching practice. Before coming to Guelph he worked as an award-winning video producer/director and developer of learning materials. Richard has also been a sessional lecturer in History, giving him that unique perspective on learning reserved for those who teach.
