Vanessa Rivero Recio

Born in Madrid on 10 March 1975. Divorced and mother of two children.

Holds a Teaching Diploma in Special Education from Escuela Universitaria ESCUNI
(1995-1998).

Following graduation she is dedicated to the world of disability and has enrolled in courses related to disability.

Since 2004, she has been working at the Gil Gayarre Foundation.

Fundación Gil Gayarre is a non-profit organisation that believes in people, in their capabilities and their strengths. We are committed to people with intellectual disabilities, as well as their families. Our work entails providing the encouragement to develop life projects, realise desires and aspirations, through a personalised and inclusive model of attention.

Our mission is to address and support the life projects of each person with an intellectual disability, along with their family members, and uphold their rights and obligations as citizens, in order to achieve the highest possible degree of social inclusion.

We acknowledge each individual as being unique and different, with their dignity and worth as an end in itself.

Promoting the autonomy and freedom of people by providing all the necessary psychological and physical support.

Since 2005, I have been a teacher at Gil Gayarre Foundation.

Currently she is the fifth cycle classroom tutor, composed of seven students between the ages of 14 and 15.
