María Antonia Casanova

María Antonia Casanova lectures at the Camilo José Cela University and is Director of Training at the Instituto Superior de Promoción Educativa, in Madrid.

Throughout her career she has been Education Inspector and has held positions as General Deputy Director of Special Education and Attention to Diversity at the Ministry of Education (1996-1999), and General Director of Educational Development of the Community of Madrid (1999-2007). Has represented Spain at the European Agency for Development in Special Needs Education (1996-2001) and managed, for Spain, the Educational Integration Programme in Mexico (1996-2002).

Liaises with national and international universities on matters she addresses as a specialist: evaluation, curriculum design, inclusive education, etc. She also delivers and runs courses for executives and teachers in these lines of work. She provides her ongoing contribution toward professional journals, directs the Open Classroom collection of La Muralla and, among her books, the following are highlighted: Sociometry in the Classroom, Manual for Educational Assessment, Evaluation and Quality of Schools, Curriculum Design and Educational Innovation, Inclusive Education: a future model, The Evaluation of Basic Competencies, The Education we Demand and Teaching and Pedagogy in the Spanish Language during the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries.
