Cristina Pita Yáñez

Cristina Pita Yáñez (La Coruña, 1964) holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Madrid, 1987. From 1988 to 1993, she graduated with a Master’s Degree (M.A.) and a Ph.D. in Economics from Pennsylvania State University (United States), at which she was a Student Aide. In 1993, she joined the Faculty of Economic and Business Science at the University of Salamanca. As from 1996, she is a full professor in the area of Economic Analysis from the Department of Economics and Economic History of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Salamanca.

She has lectured Economics at various Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees at the University of Salamanca. Her areas of expertise are Industrial Organisation and Labour Economics. Her lines of research (theoretical and empirical analysis) have been on the theory of employment contracts, industrial accidents, negotiation and economic analysis of social exclusion. Added to this, during more recent years, she has dedicated herself to the job placement of university graduates. She has held the posts of Faculty Secretary, Department Secretary and Director of the University Counselling Service. Since December 2009, she has been the Vice-Chancellor of Student Services and University Outreach and is a member on the Executive Committee of CRUE Student Affairs, coordinating the area of Scholarships, Mobility and Sports.
